Tip Of The Day: Configuring the IBM Connections Mobile application for use with the IBM ConnectED community

If you're registered for IBM ConnectED 2015 already ( Conference Details HERE ) you should have received an email notifying you of the availability of the IBM Events Community that goes along with IBM Events now, including details on how to log into the web site, which looks something like this:

"IBM Event Connect for ConnectED 2015 is available now - build your agenda, download the presentations and engage in the conversation!

Point your desktop or mobile browser to http://ibmeventconnect.com/ConnectED and create your profile using your registration email id as the user id and your Event registration confirmation code as your password. We recommend that you change your password by clicking on the "Welcome...." in the top right corner. Although this site does not contain any confidential information about you, you'll want to protect your agenda and any information you choose to share. Once your profile is created, upload a picture and tell us more about yourself!

If you're logging in from an iOS or Android device, and don't already have the mobile app installed, you'll see a link to download and install IBM Event Connect Center, the mobile companion app."

If you follow the link you will get access to a web-site, or on a mobile device, details on setting up your account and viewing your profile.  There is also some information about Mobile access via the app on the App and Play store.  What those links don't tell you though is how to configure the native apps, thus: This tip of the day.

Open IBM Connections Mobile (iOS or Android),
Go into Settings,
Choose "Add or Switch Account"

Once you're there, it's pretty easy:

1. Enter an account Nickname (I used "IBM Events"),
2. Enter the Server:  "connections.ibmeventconnect.com" (without the quotes ""),
3. Your username was in the email notification, and
4. Your Password was in the email notification

That's it.  Now you can use the native mobile app to connect with your peers attending IBM ConnectED (in addition to other IBM Events!) and you can also see how the native mobile app can be extended since it also includes a neat little scheduling app where you can browse sessions and even add them to your own personal schedule - right from the IBM Connections mobile app.  Pretty Neat.

If you are attending IBM ConnectED I look forward to seeing you there!

Enjoy!
